Umbrella Care

A lot of care is taken to make a James Smith Umbrella and if you look after it, it will reward you with many years of good service.

Umbrellas are designed for normal weather conditions; do not take your umbrella out in torrential rain or very strong winds. 

When opening, gently lift the ribs to open up the frame and open the umbrella pointing down rather than up. Do not shake or swing the umbrella to release the frame.

Always leave the umbrella open to dry thoroughly. When rolling the umbrella, hold the handle and tips in one hand. With the other hand, gently pull each panel of the cover free from the frame. Still holding the tips and the handle together, roll the panels round from the top down towards the tips and fasten with the band.

Do not leave your umbrella in a creased or crumpled condition. Rolling the cover neatly will prolong the life and good appearance of your umbrella.

It is inadvisable to lend your James Smith umbrella to even your closest friend. Give them our address instead.
